Paris is threatened with siege, but numerous paladins have fled the court of Charlemagne and, taken by love for Angelica, set out to find her. Even Orlando, who is the first paladin of France and captain general of the French army, has left the court, and all that remains is for King Charles to entrust the command of the French army to Rinaldo. Following a bitter duel with Rodomonte, king of Algiers, Rinaldo manages to put the invaders to flight and, having entered the wood of the leaf, meets Orlando with the beautiful Angelica. The two paladins challenge each other to a duel, they would surely have killed each other if the magician Malagigi had not intervened to divide them (…)
